Spotted Turtle

Spotted TurtleThe spotted turtle is native to Michigan, around the Great Lakes and on the eastern coast of the United States. The spotted turtle is a small turtle who lives in marshes, wet meadows, bogs and flooded forests. It is covered with yellow spots on its carapace (upper shell) and is yellow/orange on the plastron (bottom shell).

The spotted turtle is unfortunately a threatened species in Michigan due to loss of habitat and collection by humans for pets.
