Green Frog

Green FrogOur most common from in Michigan is the green frog. This large frog can be green, brown or olive with a fold of skin from the eardrum down each side of the back. The throat of the male green frog is yellow and white in the female.

They can be found in permanent ponds, banks of streams, lakes and marshes. When the female lays an egg clutch, it may contain over 4,000 eggs! The green frog tadpoles may also take two seasons to transform into frogs.

Life span: Up to 10 years

Size: 2 1/2 to 4 inches

Food habits: Carnivore
