Spring Stampede 5k Run/Walk

SPRING STAMPEDE—5K RUN/WALK - April 6, Saturday, 9:00 am—The Spring Stampede is off and running under the leadership of coach Mike Mahler. Come run or walk for fun and prizes. This 5K run/walk course takes advantage of Sarett’s diverse nature trails. Funds raised from this event help Sarett’s environmental education programs for area school children.
  • The entry fee is $20 through March 22, and $25 after March 22.
  • Members of Sarett Nature Center & SWMI RACERS receive a $3 discount.
  • Race registration and race number pick-up begins at 7:30 am. Race starts at 9:00 am.
  • Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. Special awards will be given to the overall male and female finishers in the run and walk.
  • Everyone present on the day of the race will be eligible for door prizes.
  • Please register by March 22 to guarantee your race t-shirt.
  • There is also a kids one-mile fun run beginning at 8:30 am with a $1 registration fee and everyone receives a ribbon.

Junior Naturalist Club

JUNIOR NATURALIST CLUB - April 13, Saturday, 10:00 am to Noon—A special club for kids ages 7-12 who are really interested in nature. Find out what it means to be a Sarett naturalist. We’ll learn about the animals of Sarett, do projects, and have lots of fun as we learn about nature. We will also meet May 4. Fee $6/student/class. Woodcock Walk

WOODCOCK WALK - April 13, Saturday, 8:30 pm—Join a Sarett naturalist for an evening walk looking and listening for the courtship song, dance and aerial display of the American Woodcock. Call to register—269-927-4832. Members & children/free, non-member adults/ $5 (includes general admission fee).

Wildflowers at Sarett

WILDFLOWERS AT SARETT - April 21, Sunday, 2:00 pm—Join us for a walk through Sarett’s trails to see and learn about early wildflowers. Members & children free, non-member adults/ $5 (includes general admission fee).

Annual Meeting of the Membership

ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MEMBERSHIP - April 28, Sunday, 2:00 pm—Join Sarett Board of Directors and staff for the annual meeting of the membership. After a brief meeting, the director, Dianne Braybrook, will be sharing her adventures in Baja, Mexico.

Butterfly House Volunteer Training

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR BUTTERFLY HOUSE - May 8, Wednesday, 10:00 am—Noon—Join us for a training day for anyone who would like to help with the Butterfly House. We’ll learn about the butterflies, the butterfly house and gardens and how you can help with this exciting exhibit for school groups or weekend visitation during the summer. Berrien County’s Annual Birdathon

BERRIEN COUNTY’S ANNUAL BIRDATHON - May 18, Saturday, All Day— Birdwatchers from all over Michigan will spend the day searching to see as many bird species as possible. Teams from Sarett will be trying their skill and luck.  This event has become a very important fundraiser for the nature center. Each team’s members find sponsors who pledge for each species seen that day. If you would like to sponsor a team, please call Sarett.
