The Science of Birdsong Program

THE SCIENCE OF BIRDSONG - December 14, Saturday, 2:00 PM Drs. Sharon Gill and Maarten Vonhof of Western Michigan University have been studying how birds adapt their songs to their environment. They will share how birds not only compete for physical territories, but acoustic territories as well. Did you know birds closer to roads sing higher than those further away? Or that birds sharing habitat sort their songs like radio stations’ frequencies on the airwaves? Come enjoy learning about the rich soundscape of our feathered friends and expand your acoustic horizons. Members/FREE, Non-members/ $5.
