Spring Selfie Challenge!

Starting March 4, Saturday, 10:00 am through April we will host a spring Selfie Challenge!  Starting the 4th, visit Sarett and take a picture of yourself at the places shown on our Facebook page or pick up a picture guide at the front desk.  Show your pictures to a naturalist and win a prize.  It is like a scavenger hunt only with selfies.  You have to get a selfie in all 5 places to be eligible for a prize.  It is a great way to get outdoors, have some fun and explore Sarett.  Return to the nature center to claim your prize.  Fun for the whole family.  Regular admission rates apply. This selfie challenge will run through April.

Wildflowers of Dowagiac Woods

April 29, Saturday, 1:00 pm  WILDFLOWERS OF DOWAGIAC WOODS. Join a Sarett naturalist for an easy walk through one of our favorite springtime woods.  Dowagiac Woods is known for it abundance and variety of ephemeral spring wildflowers—trillium, Dutchmen’s beeches, spring beauty, and so much more. Please call to register.  $10/person includes transportation.

Annual Meeting of the Membership

April 30,  Sunday, 3:00 pm   ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MEMBERSHIP. The Wonders of the Galapagos Islands. Join Sarett Board of Directors and staff for the annual meeting of the membership. After a short business meeting and celebration of new land acquisitions, travel to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands with Director/Naturalist Dianne Braybrook.  This recent adventure was jam packed with unbelievable scenery, unusual birds and wildlife!

Butterfly House Volunteer Training

May 10, 10:00am, Wednesday, VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  Join us at 10:00 am for a training day for anyone who would like to help Sarett with the Butterfly House with school groups or this summer.  We’ll learn about the butterflies, the butterfly house and gardens and how you can help with this exciting exhibit for school groups or weekend visitation.  Please let us know if you are planning on coming.  927-4832 or

Berrien County Birdathon!

May 13 Saturday, All Day, BERRIEN COUNTY’S ANNUAL BIRDATHON. Birders from all over Michigan will spend the day searching to see as many bird species as possible.  Teams from Sarett will be trying their skill and luck.  This event has become a very important fundraiser for the nature center.  Each team  member finds sponsors who pledge for each species seen that day.  If you would like to sponsor a team, please call Sarett.  If you would like to join a team or form your own team, please call 269-927-4832.  Thanks for your support.

Butterfly House Opens

May 20, Saturday, 10:00 am  BUTTERFLY HOUSE.  We plan to open the butterfly house for the summer today.  Please remember butterflies are most active on warm, sunny days!

Native Plant Sale

Join us for our Native Plant Sale going on Saturday May 20th through Sunday, May 21st during regular business hours. The sale will continue after this weekend with remaining plants during regular business hours.
