Paddle on the Kalamazoo River

PADDLE ON THE KALAMAZOO RIVER - September 22, Sunday, 12:00 PM Enjoy one last paddle for the season with Sarett naturalists along the Kalamazoo River. We will be paddling from the Allegan dam to the pipeline. Meet at Sarett and a naturalist will take participants up to the river. Includes kayak, transportation, & equipment. Member/$15, Non-member/$20. Must call to register 269-927-4832. Pre-payment required.

Junior Naturalist

JUNIOR NATURALIST- September 28, Saturday, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM - A special club for kids ages 7-12 who are really interested in nature. Find out what it means to be a Sarett naturalist. We’ll learn about the animals of Sarett and their care, do projects, and have a lot of fun as we discover the natural world. Club size is limited. We will meet September 28, October 26, November 23, December 14, January 18, February 15, March 21, April 18 & May 23. Fee $6.00/session or $45/student for all sessions. Kiss My Grass Soapmaking Class

KISS MY GRASS SOAPMAKING - October 5, Saturday, 1:00 PM - The first soapmaking class was so popular we thought we’d do another! Whether you’re a pro or first timer, Amy makes soapmaking very easy with step by step instruction! This make and take class includes: a soap mold, 10 bars of soap, a soap recipe, and class instruction (value is over $70 for product alone). You choose your scent and color. $65 per person, sorry no class sharing. Must be at least 16 years old. Class is limited to the first 20 pre-paid registered guests; no walk-ins as we need an exact head count for supplies. Kennedy’s Kitchen Concert!

CONCERT-KENNEDY’S KITCHEN - October 11, Friday, 7:00-9:00 PM- Join us for a fun evening of music and storytelling. NATURE WITH NATE- October 12, Saturday, 1:00 PM- Enjoy a walk with Sarett’s director, Nate Fuller, exploring the trails for fall’s blooms, birds, and bugs! Members & kids/ FREE, Non-members/$5.

Fall Walk at Yankee Springs Recreation Area

FALL WALK AT YANKEE SPRINGS RECREATION AREA- October 20, Sunday, 1:00 PM- Meet at Sarett and join a naturalist as we go to visit the Yankee Springs Recreation Area in Middleville, Michigan. This 5200 acre natural area includes 30 miles of hiking trails. Enjoy the afternoon walking some of the trails and seeing the fall color. Member/$10, Non-member/$15. Halloween at Sarett!

HALLOWEEN AT SARETT - October 26, Saturday, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM  - Volunteers and staff will be on hand to help you discover wild creatures and fun activities along the lighted trail. Families can start their journey along the trail anytime between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Snacks and crafts will be inside. $5/person and bring a flashlight. All children must be accompanied by an adult. NO reservations necessary.

Trivia Night

TRIVIA NIGHT - November 2, Saturday, 7:00 PM - Join us for an evening of “FUNraising” and test your knowledge on a variety of categories. $200 Prize to 1st place team.  Doors open at 6:00 pm—Trivia  begins at 7:00 pm. Buy a table for 10 people at $100.00 or join a table for $10/person. Bring snacks to share with your tablemates. Cash bar for pop, water, beer and wine. Door prizes, good fun and lots of laughs. Lotion Bar, Lip Balm, and Towel Cake Making Class

LOTION BAR, LIP BALM & TOWEL CAKE MAKING CLASS - November 24, Sunday, 2:00 PM - In this make and take class, you’ll make 12-15 small lotion bars and 12-18 lip balms (all lotion bar and lip balm supplies included). You’ll also learn how to make towel cakes. These make beautiful and unique gifts! You will need to bring your own towel cake supplies (feel free to bring up to 5 sets to make at class). Towel cake supplies needed: 1 towel, 1 hand towel, 1 washcloth, 1 10” round thick cardboard style cake bottom, ribbon, flower (or seasonal design), straight pins. Class size is limited to 20 people so don’t wait to sign up and pay. No walk ins please. One paid class per person. Class is for ages 16 and up. Class is $65 per person. Call 269-927-4832 to register.
