November and December 2016 Announcements

Don’t forget membership support is vital to Sarett Nature CenterThe nature center staff provides quality environmental programs to over 25,000 school age children each year and we need your support.  The Nature Center is a 1000 acre wildlife sanctuary with over 8 miles of maintained walking and skiing trails.  Sarett provides weekend programs including guest speakers, naturalist led hikes and nature programs.  If you have not renewed your membership for 2016, please take time to do so.  Your membership support keeps the trails maintained, the building opened, staffed and available to school groups and to the general public. We need your membership support.  Thank you!   Thank you to all who have joined and renewed your membership.

BARN PARTY, 2016.  The Barn Party was another success. The evening brought out over 100 members and friends to the event and to support Sarett and learn about the past year’s programs. Thank you for all of your donations of auction items, appetizers, desserts, beverages, jams and all the wonderful volunteers who worked to make this event special.  All proceeds are designated for Sarett’s Environmental Education Programs.  A sincere thank you to all who helped make this event a big success.

COUNTRY FAIR, 2016.  Thank you for making the country fair a great day. The weather cooperated and a large crowd came. A big thank you to all the volunteer workers, we could never do this day without you.  A big thank you to all the Sarett members and friends who donated rummage, baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles and produce . A special thanks to Gary Zick for brats, Big Dan for cider, The Flat Tire Farm for apples, and Coloma Frozen Foods for blueberries. Over $3,500 was raised for Sarett’s environmental education programs.

BOOK SALE—CAN YOU HELP SARETT ?  We are planning a nature book sale starting November 19 & 20, 2016.  We are asking members and friends to donate their gently used nature books for this event.  Books can be field guides, travel guides, informational books, nature adventure books, hard or soft cover or children’s books.  Please no magazines.  Books can be dropped off at the nature center anytime before the sale.  Then plan to join us for a great way to stock up on winter reading.  Questions?  Call Dianne at 927-4832 or email dianneb@sarett.com  We have had many great books donated this year—you won’t want to miss this opportunity.

MEMORIALS were received in memory of Lloyd Wells, Marilyn Gersonde and Ann Wheat. Several donations were made in honor of Ralph & Barbara Stelter’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.
